City Announces MLK Jr. Day Closures

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, some city of Aurora locations will be closed or have adjusted hours Monday, Jan. 18, 2021.

  • All municipal offices and courts, closed
  • All libraries, closed; no fines will be assessed and no holds will expire on closed days
  • Aurora Animal Shelter, closed (please call 303.627.3100 for urgent animal-related matters that cannot wait until the next business day)
  • Aurora History Museum, remains closed to the public because of COVID-19
  • Aurora Reservoir, open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Beck Recreation Center & Indoor Pool, closed
  • Bicentennial Art Center, closed
  • Central Recreation Center, closed
  • Golf courses, open (weather permitting)
  • Moorhead Recreation Center, closed
  • Morrison Nature Center, closed
  • Plains Conservation Center, open 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (trail use only; visitor center closed)
  • Preschool Classes, closed
  • Senac Creek Nature Center, closed
  • Utah Indoor Pool, closed

Notes:

The city’s 35th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration continues Jan. 18 with a virtual Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 8 a.m. on the city’s Facebook page, Facebook.com/AuroraGov.

On city holidays, payment for parking at on-street parking meters and commuter permit zones is not required, and posted, non-safety parking restrictions are not enforced.

Not affected by the holiday closures are the Detention Center, Police, Fire Rescue and Public Safety Communications operations.
