COVID-19
IMPACT ON AURORA DANCE ART'S CONTINUOUS CHILDREN'S DANCE PROGRAM
In the interest of our
community’s health and safety and in keeping with statewide orders, city leadership made the decision to close many
city facilities such as libraries and recreation centers, as well as the
cancellation of all city-organized events until further notice (which
includes ALL classes held in ALL recreation centers and libraries). Because
all Aurora Dance Arts classes fall into this category underlined above, our
dance program is currently following this directive. To see the full list of closures and stay
up to date, please visit AuroraGov.org/COVID19.
We are sorry to report that ALL AURORA DANCE ARTS CONTINUOUS CHILDREN'S DANCE PROGRAM classes at ALL CENTERS for IN-PERSON LEARNING are CURRENTLY CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Please feel free to read on below about general information regarding the
Continuous Children's Dance Program, but please also note that our program has
been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 health crisis. We are currently in
the process of planning options for rebuilding and restructuring this
program. We are also developing alternative, interactive, virtual programming
options for dance classes in the interim until we can fully rebuild this
special program. We will be in contact regarding future plans for the
Continuous Program in accordance with reopening directives of the city of
Aurora as soon as possible.
Continuous Children's Dance Program
The Continuous Children’s Dance Program is for students, ages 3 to 20 years-old, and is a comprehensive, nine-month program with classes in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop and poms. Highly qualified instructors implement an established dance syllabus for beginning through advanced level classes designed to grow with your child.
Registration and Class Placement
All Continuous Dance Program registrations must be processed through the Dance Office. The Dance Office provides information regarding general dance style and levels offered, availability & pricing.
Children are placed in classes based on age, ability and technique level. Classes are arranged sequentially so that each student progresses through the program safely, without gaps in training, and are well prepared for the next technique level. Instructors may recommend a transfer to another class (up or down a level) based on ability and the best interest of the student. Students should expect to spend 2-3 years in any given level/style in this program for proper development.
Locations
Aurora Dance Arts classes take place at city of Aurora facilities: Beck, Expo, Village Green, Meadowood, Meadow Hills, Central and the Aurora Center for Active Adults (view a map of facility locations).
