Remote Learning
The city of Aurora Preschool Program, like many of the surrounding school districts, will be starting our school year remotely, with students learning at home through the end of October. The health, safety and wellbeing of our students, family, and community are our top priority. We will be closely monitoring the local coronavirus developments and will determine whether we will be able to begin in-person classes starting in November.
This past spring, we were able to create a virtual online learning experience for our families when the school districts closed early for the school year. We have taken what we learned from this experience, as well as the feedback we received from families of what they needed and wanted for their child’s online experience to develop our remote learning plans for the 2020/2021 school year.
We will be utilizing our Class Dojo virtual platform to provide video lessons, worksheets, and portfolio assignments as we did previously. We will also be adding in regular connection circles and small group lessons through live virtual meetings, which will allow families to interact live with teachers and other classmates. Home learning resources will also be provided as well as routine phone check ins with families to help ensure each child flourishes during at home learning.
Preschool is the start of a child's educational journey. Our goal is to provide a positive and engaging learning environment for all of our students. Our preschools focus on each child as an individual, allowing each child to learn at his/her own pace and through new experiences. We offer a play based curriculum that focuses on the Colorado Early Learning and Developmental Guidelines. We provide a safe, fun and engaging environment where children are free to explore and express themselves through play. All city of Aurora preschool programs are licensed by the Colorado Office of Early Childhood.
Our mission is to offer social, physical and academic experiences that:
-Provide a nurturing, safe and fun environment with the opportunity to explore, play and learn.
-Enrich and touch the lives of the future.
-Focus on the whole child to offer positive hands-on experiences that build each child’s learning skills according to their age and ability.
-Provide quality classes lead by qualified staff at a competitive cost.
-Develop life skills & kindergarten readiness.

Congratulations to all city of Aurora Preschools for your continued commitment to quality from Colorado Shines Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). Meadowood Preschool is the fifth of the city's five preschool locations to complete their Colorado Shines Quality Rating.
Colorado Shines is a rating and improvement system for licensed early care and learning programs. Using proven methods, it measures overall school quality based on five areas:
- Workforce Qualifications and Professional Development
- Family Partnerships
- Leadership, Management and Administration
- Learning Environment
- Child Health Promotion
Research consistently shows that children who attend quality early care and learning programs are more likely to do well in school and less likely to drop out or need remedial education. Quality early education helps children start strong and the benefits last forever.
