STEAM-Powered History Virtual Summer Camp

We are excited to announce our virtual summer camp is now only $15! Thanks to a generous donation from the Don Lindemann Fund through the Aurora Museum Foundation our virtual camp can be enjoyed at home at a significant discount to families.

The camp still includes an hour of online instruction and collaboration every day, and each camp kit includes the following
supplies.

STEAM-Powered History Camp Kit Includes:

  • A virtual room escape game
  • Components (motor, batteries etc) to make your own robot
  • Circuit building materials with batteries, conductive materials, and LEDs
  • A superhero craft (different for each age level)
  • Toothpicks and candy to build a geodesic dome
  • Film canisters and Alka Seltzer to make an ejector seat
  • Maze coding kit
  • Melt beads and boards to write in binary
  • Rocket building supplies (different for each age group)
  • Candy and toothpicks to build a moon base
  • Plus general supplies like tape and coloring supplies to supplement activities

Experience Aurora's history through the past and present of science and technology. Our virtual summer camp provides activities that can be completed on your own time, but also includes daily online instruction for everyone registered for camp.

This is a virtual summer camp. It is recommended, but not required, that campers have access to a computer, laptop or phone with a high speed internet connection in order to participate in daily instruction provided by the museum from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Parents or Guardians will be able to schedule a time to pick up supplies at the Aurora History Museum starting July 7th. (15051 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora CO 80012).

This camp is hosted via Google Meet video conferencing. The Google Meet will be posted on a classroom site that will be set up for campers. Campers will need the link to be able to participate. The use of Google Meet is at your own risk. Aurora History Museum & Historic Sites is not liable for damage. Parent or legal guardian must sign the liability waiver to grant permission to participate in this online and at home program.

If you have questions please feel free to contact the Education Curator, Jessica Lira.

Cost: $15/camper. Materials and fees included. Campers may need pliers and an iron with adult supervision.

Don Lindemann's passion for public policy and his strong belief in giving back to his local community drove his involvement in St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Foundation, the Aurora Gators Swim Team, the Aurora Historical Society and Museum Foundation Board, Homestead City, AAUW, and the Lowry Redevelopment Authority.
