Public Comment on Agenda Items

The Aurora City Council welcomes public comment during regular council meetings regarding items appearing on the agenda. Each speaker is allotted a maximum of three minutes to speak on an item.

To comment on a topic not listed on the agenda, visit the Public Invited to be Heard webpage.

How is speaker order determined?
Speaker order is set on a first-come, first-served basis, using the date/time the request to speak is received. Speakers who register online will be the first to address the City Council.

How do I sign up to speak in support of or to oppose an item listed on the agenda?

  1. Register online in advance - If appearing in person, you may pre-register using the online registration form. Online registration begins at 8 a.m. on the Friday before the next scheduled regular council meeting and ends at noon on the day of the meeting.

  2. Submit a speaker slip at the council meeting - If appearing in person and did not pre-register online, you may complete a speaker slip and submit it to the city clerk before the agenda title is read. Speaker slips are available in the Paul Tauer Aurora City Council Chamber at the Aurora Municipal Center (AMC). The AMC opens at 6 p.m. on the day of the council meeting.

  3. Use the public call-in line - Call the live public comment line at 855.695.3475 and press *3 to reach the operator. The public call-in line opens at 6 p.m. on the day of the council meeting. Individuals calling to comment on agenda items must call and be in the queue before the item title is read by the city clerk. Do not complete the online registration form if using the public call-in line to comment on an agenda item.
