Alex Tyler

My name is Alex Tyler and my artist’s name is Willock.  My pursuit of art has taken me in many different directions. When I’m not in the pottery studio, I’m in my recording studio creating music.  I’m fortunate to have grown up in Loveland Colorado where I first studied wheel throwing in high school.  I feel at home at the wheel because it combines my mechanical understanding and art into one process.  I’m fascinated by all the different possibilities that clay has to offer‑they are endless.
After high school, I focused on music for years but returned to clay in 2012 where I studied ceramics and photography at Front Range community college.  After graduating I bought a wheel and a kiln.  I then started firing my own work and exploring different forms.

During some time off in 2021, I had time to focus on pottery again and I’m glad I to have discovered Bicentennial art.  Working here has given me the opportunity to bring my love of teaching and pottery together.  I feel like I’m a student as much as I’m a teacher and I never want to stop learning!
