Posted on 03/30/2021
Just like the pages of a book, our natural world is full of wonder! Aurora Public Library, the city of Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space Naturalist Team and the Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership have partnered for a new book club celebrating the beauty of our natural world!

Join us each month as we share stories, explore natural phenomena and discuss our monthly book selection. This book club meets virtually once a month as well as safely, socially distanced in-person at Morrison Nature Center so we can discuss while enjoying the beauty of nature firsthand!

Our next book club meetings are:
- In-person: Saturday, April 10, 3 - 4:30 p.m., Morrison Nature Center
- Virtual: Wednesday, April 14, 6 - 7:30 p.m., WebEx

Bookworms is free to attend, but registration is required to receive the link to log on. Register here.

In April, Bookworms will be discussing "H is for Hawk" by Helen MacDonald. "H is for Hawk" is available to borrow instantly as an eBook or digital audiobook from hoopla digital; print copies are also available with your library card. Click here for a reading guide.

When Helen Macdonald’s father died suddenly on a London street, she was devastated. An experienced falconer, Helen had been captivated by hawks since childhood; she’d never before been tempted to train one of the most vicious predators, the goshawk. But in her grief, she saw that the goshawk’s fierce and feral temperament mirrored her own. Resolving to purchase and raise the deadly creature as a means to cope with her loss, she adopted Mabel, and turned to the guidance of "The Once and Future King" author T.H. White’s chronicle "The Goshawk" to begin her challenging endeavor. Projecting herself “in the hawk’s wild mind to tame her” tested the limits of Macdonald’s humanity and changed her life.
