Aurora Economic Resiliency Program

Eligible small to mid-sized businesses and nonprofits in Aurora were invited to apply for financial assistance from the city’s new Aurora Economic Resiliency (AER) Grant Program. The application and interest period has now closed.

The program will allocate at least $5 million in Arapahoe County CARES Program and Adams County CARES Program funds to support the resiliency of struggling businesses and nonprofits in Aurora while the community awaits vaccines and treatments for COVID-19.

Depending on the financial need, grants are available up to $30,000 for payroll and rent expenses for the upcoming winter months.

Overall Eligibility

The program was open to new applications and to those that previously qualified for funds through the earlier Aurora Economic Relief or Aurora Economic Recovery programs.

New applicants must have applied between Nov. 5 and 12. Applications had to be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, to qualify for consideration.

Prior program applicants received an email with a link to complete a short interest form if they wish to be considered for this program. The form must have been completed by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12.

Minimum Qualifications for a Grant

Eligible businesses must:
Be under 200 employees
Have an Aurora business license in good standing

Eligible nonprofits must either:
Have an Aurora business license in good standing
OR
Be registered with the Colorado Secretary of State as a nonprofit and either have an Aurora location or be able to demonstrate the over 50% of the clients they serve are Aurora residents

Grant Eligible Purposes

Grant funds are to be used for payroll and business rent expenses for the upcoming winter months.

To receive payroll assistance, businesses will have to demonstrate a loss of revenue during COVID-19, year over year. For rent assistance, businesses will need to show they are behind in rent payments.
