Officers were stationary in a parking lot near E. Colfax Ave. and Ironton St. when they were made aware of a stolen white Ford F-250 bearing Colorado Plate 297-PMQ, which was eastbound on E Colfax Ave at N Chester St.  Officers observed the F-250 approaching, and drove towards the parking lot exit, activating the patrol vehicles overhead lights.  The truck immediately accelerated, indicating to the officer that a traffic stop was not plausible.  The officer, therefore, shut off his lights, never leaving the parking lot.

Another officer was stationary in a parking-lot at E 30th Ave and N Peoria St, and observed the F-250 travelling northbound into Denver at a high rate of speed.

Aurora Police were then alerted to an auto-pedestrian accident at E Colfax Ave and N Kingston St, in the eastbound lanes.  The adult male victim was deceased and it was determined based on witness statements that the F-250 struck the victim as he was crossing the roadway.

This investigation is on-going and the pedestrians identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroners office, pending notification of next of kin.

The F-250 has damage to the driver-side front end, to include the headlight being inoperable.

Anyone with information which would assist this investigation is asked to call Detective Steve Chinn at 303.739.6342 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867.  Tipsters calling Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
