On Thursday May 4, 2017 at approximately 1:03 a.m. Aurora Police Officers responded to the Rivera Motel located at 9100 East Colfax Avenue on a report of a shooting. 

Upon officers arrival they located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body. That male was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to those injuries.

During the homicide investigation officers were contacted by a male reporting a robbery at the motel. At this time the reported robbery is unfounded and being treated as a separate assault case. Interviews are still being conducted. The Major Crimes/Homicide Unit is handling the investigation into the Homicide.  Due to the ongoing investigation there is no suspect information available for release.

The identity of the Homicide victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office pending the positive identification of the victim and notification of his next of kin.

The Aurora Police Department is asking anyone with information about this case to contact Agent Ingui with the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit at 303-739-6067. Tipsters can also use Metro Denver Crime Stoppers by calling 720-913-7867, can remain anonymous and be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
