On Thursday June 16, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. Aurora Police officers were dispatched to a carjacking which occurred at 13770 East Rice Place. The vehicle description and license plate was relayed to Aurora Police Department officers, and the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

An Arapahoe County deputy located the suspect vehicle, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop in his marked patrol vehicle. After the suspect vehicle failed to stop, the Arapahoe County deputy was given authorization to pursue, and initiate the precision immobilization technique (PIT).

An Arapahoe County Deputy initiated the PIT maneuver on the suspect vehicle temporarily disabling the vehicle. Shots were fired by the Arapahoe County deputies as they attempted to effect an arrest of the suspects. The suspect vehicle continued and then collided a second time with the deputies vehicle. The suspect vehicle was disabled in the front yard of a house east of South Winston Street and East El Dorado Place.
