On Monday, March 22nd, 2021, at approximately 05:15 a.m., District 2 Patrol Officers responded to a shooting at the Hometowne Suites located at 3705 North Chambers Road.
Officers located an adult male in a hotel room who had been shot. This male suffered fatal injuries and was declared deceased on scene. A juvenile male was detained after being located by officers nearby. His involvement is under investigation and his name will not be released at this time. No one has been arrested or charged in this incident and we are not looking for any outstanding suspects. This case is currently being investigated as a homicide by our Major Crimes Homicide Unit.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office after a positive identification has been made, and his next-of-kin has been notified.

(January 14, 2021) On June 19th, 2020 a 17-year-old male was shot and killed while attending a Juneteenth celebration at Rocky Ridge Park located at 16200 E. Mississippi Ave.
This homicide investigation is still actively being investigated and we continue to ask for the publics help. The Major Crimes Homicide Unit is announcing a total reward increase of up to $7,000.00 for eligible tips being allotted from the following entities:
Metro Denver Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000.00.
The Aurora Reward Fund is offering a reward of up to $5,000.00.

(June 19, 2020) This evening at approximately 8:37 p.m. Aurora Police Department officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting at a Juneteenth celebration being held at the Rocky Ridge Park located at 16200 East Mississippi Avenue.
Upon officer’s arrival they located a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries this evening.
His identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.
Currently we believe this was an isolated incident between the victim and the suspect(s) no longer posing an immediate threat to the general public. No one is currently in custody, but investigators are working diligently to identify any and all suspect(s) responsible.

(December 7) On Sunday, December 6, 2020, at about 5:05 p.m., Aurora police officers responded to a traffic crash at East 18th Avenue and Chambers Road.
The initial investigation has revealed a Ford Ranger was struck by a Dodge truck while the Ford Ranger was making a left turn from westbound East 18th Avenue to southbound Chambers Road. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors to the accident, but speed is possibly a factor. This investigation remains active and ongoing.
The 68-year-old male driver of the Ford Ranger was transported to an area hospital where he was later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office after a positive identification has been made, and his next-of-kin has been notified.

(September 28) On Monday, September 28, 2020, at about 4:20 A.M., Aurora Police Officers and Aurora Fire Rescue were called to the west-bound lanes of I-70 at the off ramp for south-bound I-225 for a motor vehicle crash.
Initial investigation revealed a Ford pickup truck was traveling west-bound on I-70 near the I-225 south-bound off ramp and lost control, causing it to roll over. One adult female passenger was ejected from the truck and tragically, was pronounced dead on scene. Another passenger, an adult male, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. It appears that speed may have been a contributing factor.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office after positive identification and notification of the family.
Traffic Unit Investigators will continue to investigate and attempt to reconstruct the scene to determine speeds and other contributing factors.

On August 30, 2020 at around 8:30a.m. Aurora Police responded to a report of shooting at the Landon Park Apartments located at 6 South Sable Boulevard.
Upon arrival Officers located an adult male who was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound inside of an apartment. The preliminary investigation discovered that a neighbor of the deceased heard a gunshot at around 2:00a.m. This morning when the neighbor went and checked on the resident she found him slumped over and called police.
At this time this shooting is being investigated as a suspicious death by the Major Crimes Homicide Unit. Investigators are looking for anyone who might have witnessed, heard something or who has additional information about this case. Witnesses are asked to call Agent Heath Graw at 303.739.6213.
The name of the deceased man will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

(August 23) On Sunday, August 23, 2020, at approximately 12:30 P.M., Aurora Police Officers and Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the area of East 22nd Avenue and North Airport Boulevard on reports of a vehicle crash.
Initial investigation reveals that a Mitsubishi sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of N. Airport Blvd. This sedan then collided, head-on, with a Ford F-150 who was going northbound on N. Airport Blvd. Both the Mitsubishi sedan and Ford F-150 had a sole, adult male occupant. The driver of the Ford F-150 was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. Tragically, the driver of the Mitsubishi sedan was pronounced deceased after being transported to an area hospital. At this
time, it does not appear that speed nor alcohol was a factor for the driver of the Ford F-150. Those determinations for the Mitsubishi driver are still being investigated.
Investigators for our Traffic Unit will attempt to reconstruct the scene to determine speeds and other contributing factors of the crash. The identity of the deceased male will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office after positive identification and next-of-kin notification.

Shortly after midnight the Aurora Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment home in the 200 block of South Joplin Circle in the Centre Pointe Neighborhood.
Upon arrival officers found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, he was pronounced at the scene. Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded and are actively investigating this case which is in it's early stages. No information about what lead up to this shooting or details about the suspect(s) are available at this time.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified about his death.

UPDATE: After positively identifying the male responsible for shooting two other protesters on Interstate 225, we now have a signed arrest warrant for the shooter. The arrest warrant was applied for through the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office. After the warrant application was accepted by the District Attorney's Office, a judge signed the arrest warrant based on the facts and probable cause provided.
The male has been positively identified as Samuel Young (07/08/1997). His warrant was for four (4) counts of Attempted Homicide. Samuel Young is the person of interest previously released.
Samuel Young has just been taken into custody by Aurora Police. A booking photo will be available at a later time.
We are still urging anyone with pictures or videos that show the actions of the Jeep driver, prior to driving through the group of protesters, to reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers. We also need any eyewitnesses of this incident to contact Sgt. Jeff Longnecker of the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit for an interview. The Aurora Police Department continues to investigate other incidents of violence during the protest march on the highway.

Information Previously Released July 26th
(July 26, 2020) On July 25, 2020, at approximately 6:35 P.M., protesters began to walk northbound on Interstate 225 from East Alameda Parkway.
Around 7:00 P.M. Aurora Police observed, from a media helicopter, a Jeep that was traveling northbound on I-225 heading towards the protesters. The Jeep then drives into the crowd. While the Jeep was being driven through the crowd, multiple shots were fired by a protester. At this time it is unknown if multiple people fired their weapons, or if it was just one individual. Also, there have been no reported injuries reported to us about anyone being hit by this vehicle.
Two people were struck by gunfire. One adult male was shot in the leg and had to be transported to the hospital by ambulance. Another adult male was shot in the head, only causing a graze wound. He was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.
The Jeep continued northbound on I-225, eventually exiting the interstate at East 6th Avenue. The driver pulled over at E. 6th Ave and Billings Street when he located officers who were investigating a separate, unrelated crash at that location. The driver was positively identified, questioned, and the Jeep was impounded for evidentiary purposes.
During preliminary interviews with the Jeep driver, he advised officers that while on I-225, his vehicle began to be surrounded by protesters who were yelling and striking his vehicle. He also claims that a white pickup truck struck the front of his vehicle. He claims that the reason that he drove towards the protesters is because he was scared and trying to get away.
Detectives are in contact with the shooting victims who might have captured pictures or videos of the incident. One of the victims remains hospitalized with his injuries.
We are seeking the public’s assistance. We need any pictures, videos, or eyewitness accounts that show the events leading up to the Jeep driving into the crowd. Those can be submitted to Denver Metro Crime Stoppers.
We are also seeking pictures, videos, and eyewitnesses who observed the shooting. We are actively working to identify the shooter(s) responsible for shooting into a crowd and injuring two people. Those tips can also be submitted to Denver Metro Crime Stoppers.
The Aurora Police Department Major Crimes Unit spent time today at the incident scene investigating and searching for evidence. This investigation temporarily closed the lanes of northbound I-225 and we thank motorists for their patience today. The event organizers have not yet reached out to detectives, therefore this is the reason we are seeking the public's assistance. If anyone has information to share, tipsters who contact Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
Once all of the evidence is gathered, this case will be presented to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for criminal culpability.

“I not only find great concern with someone making the decision to drive their vehicle toward protesters on the interstate but that someone in the protester group opened fire, recklessly shooting two people.

On July 23, 2020, around 10:50 P.M., Aurora Police Officers and Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the intersection of Gun Club Road and South Picadilly Street on reports of a vehicle crash.
When officers arrived on scene, they located 2 people who had been ejected from an SUV. Both of those individuals, one whom is an adult female and the other an adult male, were pronounced deceased on scene. Their identities will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroners Office after positive identification and notification of next-of-kin.
Initial investigation shows that the SUV was traveling westbound on Gun Club Road, at a high rate of speed, when it lost control. The vehicle then began to roll, ejecting both occupants, and eventually comes to rest after striking a power line and causing damage to that pole.

On July 2, 2020, at 2:43 P.M., Aurora Police Officers and Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a crash at South Sable Boulevard and East Centrepoint Drive.
Investigation found that a Buick sedan had crashed into a Chevrolet Suburban then ran off the road and crashed into a tree. The adult male driver of the Buick died as a result of injuries sustained from crashing into the tree. The occupants of the Suburban were uninjured. At this time, it appears the Buick had just been involved in another non-injury crash, a few miles away, and was fleeing the scene of that crash. Our initial investigation revealed that the Buick was traveling at a very high rate of speed when it rear-ended the Suburban. Additionally, the driver of the Buick was not wearing their seatbelt.
