(November 26) An Aurora man has been arrested following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

Pierce Fair, 33, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

About 3:00 a.m. this morning, Aurora 911 received calls about a man who had been hit by a car near the intersection of South Peoria Street and East Montana Place. Aurora Police and medical personnel responded to the scene and found a man lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries.

This man was taken to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries. His name will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after next of kin has been notified.

The initial investigation determined a silver Chevrolet Cruse was heading southbound on South Peoria Road. The pedestrian was hit while crossing Peoria Street, not in a crosswalk, near East Montana Place. It is unknown at this time if speed was a contributing factor.

Aurora Police Department Traffic Section investigators responded to the scene and closed the intersection for several hours to collect evidence, photograph the scene and take necessary measurements.

If you witnessed the crash, have dash camera video, or have any additional information, and you have not already spoken to investigators, please contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).

This is the 45th traffic related fatality of 2022.
