A 70-year-old Aurora woman died earlier this month from injuries she sustained in a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in central Aurora.

The crash was reported at 11:09 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at the intersection of East Mississippi Avenue and South Blackhawk Street. An investigation by the Aurora Police Traffic Section revealed the woman was walking north across Mississippi Avenue when she was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup that was driving south on Blackhawk Street and turning left onto Mississippi Avenue.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She died the following day at the hospital. The Aurora Police Department wasn’t notified about the fatality until Wednesday.

The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with the initial investigation of the crash. Intoxication is not suspected as a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with any information or footage of the crash who hasn’t already spoken with investigators is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).

This is the 39th traffic-related fatality for 2022.
