(October 28)  An Iowa man was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of killing a woman in a parking lot off South Parker Road.

John Thoren, 42, has been booked into the Aurora Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder stemming from an altercation that occurred in a parking lot early Friday morning.

Aurora police officers initially responded at 2:25 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the back parking lot of 6360 South Parker Road. When officers arrived, they learned the shooting stemmed from an altercation between a man and a woman, who were strangers to each other. Officers and EMS responders provided lifesaving measures, but the victim, a 46-year-old, was pronounced deceased.

The shooter, John Thoren, called 911 and cooperated with the officers on scene. He was then transported to Police Headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives from the Aurora Police Major Crimes Homicide Unit. Following these interviews, Thoren was arrested and booked into jail.

This case will be prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Any further details about this incident should be directed to their office.

If you have any information about this shooting, and did not speak to detectives on scene, you are asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000 and may remain anonymous.
