(August 17) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating a fatal vehicle pedestrian crash that happened overnight near North Peoria Street and East 17th Avenue.

On August 16, 2022 at 10:55 pm, offers were called to a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian on North Peoria Street and East 17th Avenue. A man was found in the roadway suffering life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital where, sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.

Initial investigation showed the pedestrian was crossing the street mid-block, just north of East 17th Avenue when he was struck by a black or grey Honda Pilot. The Honda Pilot was traveling south on North Peoria Street at a high rate of speed. The driver of the Honda Pilot did not stop and continued south on North Peoria Street.

The identification of the deceased will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office once they have been positively identified and their next-of-kin have been notified.
