On August 11th, 2022 at 4:49 pm Aurora 911 received multiple calls of a serious crash on South Buckley Road near East Arkansas Place. Aurora Fire Rescue and Aurora Police responded and found a man lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he did not survive and was pronounced deceased on scene. Two other people were injured. A child, approximately 4 years-old, suffered life-threatening injuries and a man suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to the hospital.

Preliminary investigation found that a white Pontiac sedan was turning east onto Arkansas Place from southbound Buckley Road. A blue Audi sedan was traveling north on Buckley Road and struck the Pontiac sedan. The deceased man was driving the Pontiac and the child was the rear-seat passenger in a child safety seat. The man with non-life-threatening injuries was driving the Audi sedan. He has been cooperative with investigators.

The northbound lanes of South Buckley Road were closed for an extended period of time so Traffic Investigators could collect evidence, photographs, and measurements. This investigation is ongoing and will determine if alcohol, speed, or any other factors contributed to the crash.

The identification of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once next of kin has been notified and they have been positively identified.

If you have dash-camera footage of the crash or you are a witness who has not yet spoken to investigators, please contact the Aurora Police Traffic Section.
