(October 29) The Aurora Police Department Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the 1700 block of Peoria Street, leaving one pedestrian dead.

On October 28, 2021, at approximately 07:51 p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a crash in the 1700 block of Peoria Street. Officer located a 38-year-old male who was struck by a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition, where he later died from his injuries.

The initial traffic investigation revealed that the male was crossing the 1700 block of Peoria Street, not in a designated crosswalk, when a vehicle struck the male. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors to the accident.

The Adams County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the pedestrian once a positive identification has been made and the next-of-kin has been notified.

This remains an active investigation. We ask anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has dash-camera footage of the crash and has not yet spoken to police to contact the Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867.
