On September 5, 2021, at 7:58 a.m., the Aurora Police Department was called to the 1100blk of South Carson Court on reports of an injured person. Officers arrived and located a 20-year-old woman suffering from apparent physical trauma. The woman was tragically pronounced deceased on scene. A man was also located in the apartment and was immediately detained.

Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Homicide Unit responded to conduct the investigation. After obtaining statements and collecting evidence, detectives arrested the man, who is identified as Dakota Chinnock (04/06/2001), and charged him with First Degree Murder. The identity of the woman will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner after she is positively identified and her next-of-kin has been notified.

A motive behind this brutal attack is not yet known. Detectives will continue their investigation and are asking anyone who has information about this incident, who have not yet spoken to police, to please reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
