On Saturday June 8th, 2019 at 11:10 a.m., Aurora Dispatch received calls of a serious auto collision at South Chambers Road and East Smoky Hill Road. Officers arrived on scene and learned that an SUV was southbound South Chambers Road attempting a left hand turn to head eastbound on East Smoky Hill Road. At the same time a sedan was travelling northbound on South Chambers Road toward East Smoky Hill Road. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Each vehicle had only one occupant/driver, and were both transported to a local hospital where one driver was declared deceased. The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.

This is the 13th traffic related fatality in Aurora for 2019.
