On March 18th, 2019, Patrol Officers from the City of Aurora responded to a 2 vehicle collision at the intersection of E. Iliff Ave., and S. Tower Rd.   It was determined that the at fault vehicle, being driven by an adult female, was eastbound on E. Iliff ave., and failed to stop for a red light.

On April 8th, 2019, at about 12:39 A.M., Aurora Police Officers responded to an automobile versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of Colfax Avenue and Kenton Street.

A passerby initially called and told 911 dispatchers that a male was laying unresponsive on the side of the road by the light pole.  The Investigation revealed an adult male was crossing Colfax Avenue from north to south just west of the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound in the far-right lane. The victim was thrown about 30 yards and came to rest on the southeast corner of the intersection.  It was determined from area surveillance video that the victim was not discovered for approximately 20 minutes after the collision, Aurora Fire Rescue transported the adult male victim to University Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.  The adult driver of the vehicle initially left the scene of the accident, however after talking to his family he decided after about 30 minutes to return to the original accident scene.

Traffic Investigators believe speed and alcohol are factors in this accident. None of the identities of any of the involved parties are being released at this time. The driver was arrested for hit and run resulting in death, additional charges may be added once the toxicology results are determined.  If you were a witness to this accident or know anything about what happened please call Detective Steve Chinn at 303-739-6342.

This will be the 7th fatal accident in Aurora since January 1st, the Aurora Police Department reminds drivers not to drive if they have been drinking.
