UPDATE: An arrest has been made in this case. Kamyl Xavier Garrette DOB 07-10-2001 has been arrested and charged with 18-3-102 Murder in the First Degree. Since more interviews need to be conducted we are not releasing his photo at this time.




On December 27, 2019, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Aurora Police Officers responded to a shooting inside the JCPenney store at the Town Center at Aurora, 14200 East Alameda Avenue.

Upon officer’s arrival they found a juvenile male with a gunshot wound. The male was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he sadly succumbed to his injury.

Positive identification and notification of next of kin will be done by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

This investigation is still very active and ongoing and is being investigated by the Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Unit. Officers are actively gathering information and pursuing leads.

On Wednesday, December 25th, 2019, at approximately 12:20 A.M., Aurora Police Officers responded to 15700 East Colfax Avenue on a reported stabbing.

Upon officer’s arrival they located an adult male and an adult female inside a mobile home, both with stab wounds. The female was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The male was also transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. Positive identification of the female, as well as next-of-kin notifications, will be done by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

This investigation is still very active and ongoing and is being investigated as a homicide by the Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Unit. Investigators are currently trying to determine what led up to the stabbing and the relationship between the male and the female, if any.

On December 22nd, Aurora Public Safety Communications Center received 911 calls of a motor vehicle accident involving a motor vehicle and one pedestrian. Responding Police and Fire personnel arrived on scene and located an adult male who had been driving a motor vehicle which had struck a pedestrian just west of E. Colfax Ave and N. Laredo St. The pedestrian was pronounced at the scene.

The Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit, was notified and is investigating.

At this stage of the investigation, The 2 door coupe was travelling west bound on E. Colfax Ave and just passed N. Laredo St, when he struck an adult male crossing E. Colfax. It is believed speed may be a factor at this time.

The Adams County Medical Examiners office were notified. 

The investigation is ongoing, and the release of the identity of the pedestrian will not be made, pending identification verification and notification of next of kin. Any further inquiries should be made to the Adams County coroner's office.

On Sunday December 15th, 2019 at approximately 8:38 p.m. Aurora Police Officers responded to 2402 S. Fraser St to assist Aurora Fire Rescue with an unresponsive woman.

Life saving measures were started by medical personnel and she was transported to a local hospital.

At the hospital it was determined she had potential life threatening injuries. The woman was placed on life support at the hospital.

Sadly, she was removed from life support today.

Positive identification and next of kin notification will be done by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

This case is now being investigated as a homicide by the Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Unit.

The suspect, Dale Bauder 12-21-62, is in custody for 18-3-102 Criminal Attempt 1st Degree Murder and 18-3-202(c) 1st Degree Assault.

Due to the ongoing investigation and the need for further follow up we are not releasing his booking photo at this time. We ask that anyone who has information about this case please contact Agt. M. Prince at 303-739-6172.

On Monday December 16th, 2019 at approximately 10:01 p.m. Aurora Police Officers responded to the Aurora Hills apartment complex located at 11922 East Archer Place on a reported shooting.

Upon officer’s arrival they located a teenage male inside an apartment with a gunshot wound.  Shortly thereafter the male was pronounced deceased on scene. Positive identification of the victim, and notification of the next-of-kin will be done by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

This investigation is still very active and ongoing and is being investigated as a homicide by the Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Unit.  An arrest as not been made, and so we do not interfere with any ongoing investigational efforts no further information will be shared at this time.

On December 16th, Aurora Public Safety Communications Center received 911 calls of a motor vehicle accident involving a two vehicles at E. 4th Pl. and N. Harvest Rd. Responding Police and Fire personnel arrived on scene and located an adult male who had been driving a Pickup had rolled the vehicle and was ejected.The victim was transported to University hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit, was notified and is investigating.

At this stage of the investigation, The pickup was south bound and a SUV pulled into his path causing the pickup to swerve and rollover ejecting the driver. It is unknown whom is at fault and the vehicle driver is cooperating with the investigation.  Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors at this time.

The Arapahoe County Medical Examiners office were notified. 

The investigation is ongoing, and the release of the identity of the pickup driver will not be made, pending notification of next of kin. Any further inquiries should be made to the Arapahoe County coroner's office.

On Sunday December 15th, 2019 just after midnight Aurora Police Officers responded to 11249 East Colfax Avenue due to reports of a male lying in the street.

Upon officers arrival they located an adult Hispanic male lying in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper-body.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where he tragically succumbed to his injuries this morning at approximately 6:00 a.m.

Positive identification of the victim, and notification of the next-of-kin will be done by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

This investigation is still very active and ongoing, and is being investigated as a homicide by the Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Unit. We ask anyone who may be a witness, or has information about this homicide, to please call Aurora Police Agent Huber at 303-739-6090.

On December 7th at 3:29 a.m., Aurora Police and Fire responded to a single-vehicle crash on eastbound E. 38th Avenue East of Windsor Drive. Responding units found a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup on its side in the westbound portion of the roadway and a male that had been ejected from the pickup.  Investigation found that the pickup was traveling eastbound when it lost control, crossed over into the westbound portion of the roadway and rolled multiple times. The driver was ejected from the truck and died as a result of his injuries.  The driver is a 26 year old male and was the only occupant.  His identity is not being released at this time, that will be done by the Adams county coroner's office.  Speed and failure to use the seatbelt are factors being investigated in this crash.

On December 4th, 2019 at approximately 5:41 pm, the Aurora Public Safety Communications Center received calls reporting a pedestrian that was stuck by several vehicles in the 18900 block of East Smith Road. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking along East Smith Road when struck by an initial vehicle and then a second vehicle. It was reported that a third vehicle was involved that did not remain on scene. The drivers of the first two vehicles remained on scene and are assisting with the investigation.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and was later declared deceased due to injuries sustained in the collision. The identity of the pedestrian is not being released at this time.

This marks the 30th traffic related fatality in Aurora for 2019. If you have any further details regarding this incident, please contact the Aurora Police Traffic Section.

On November 19th, 2019 at approximately 10:40 pm, the Aurora Public Safety Communications Center received reports of a serious traffic collision in the southbound lanes of I-225 just south of the I-70 interchange. Upon arrival, Fire and Police personnel found a passenger car driven by a single occupant that collided with the back of a large waste collection truck. The truck was stopped in the lanes of traffic after experiencing a mechanical failure when the drive shaft came off the vehicle. As the truck was stopped, it was struck from behind by the passenger car at estimated highway speeds.
 
The driver of the passenger car was transported to a nearby hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The driver was stabilized and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. In the early hours of December 1st, 2019, the driver succumbed to injuries related to the collision.

The identity of the driver is not being released at this time. The Aurora Police Traffic Section conducted the initial investigation and the collision continues to be under investigation to determine all involved factors.
 
This incident marks the 29th traffic related fatality in Aurora for 2019.
