(May 14) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash that happened on East Colfax Avenue near North Laredo Street.

On Saturday May 14th, 2022 at about 9:17 p.m. officers from the Aurora Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and North Laredo Street.

When officers arrived on scene they located two pick-up trucks that were involved in the crash.  Initial investigation revealed one pick-up truck was making a left turn from eastbound East Colfax Avenue to northbound North Laredo Street and was stuck by the second pick-up truck that was traveling westbound on East Colfax Avenue.

The turning pick-up truck was driven by an adult male and there was an adult female passenger.  The female passenger was transported to the hospital where sadly, she was pronounced deceased. The driver of that truck was also transported with unknown injuries.  The driver of the second truck remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The identification of the female passenger will be released by the Adam's County Coroner’s Office once she has been positively identified and her next-of-kin have been notified.

This is an open and ongoing investigation that will be headed by the Aurora Police Traffic Section.  It is unknown at this time if there were any contributing factors.  At this early stage in the investigation, no arrests have been made.

We ask that anyone who witnessed this crash or has dash-camera footage of the crash, to please contact the Aurora Police Traffic Section if they haven't already spoken to the investigators

(May 4) On March 4, 2022 about 4:30a, officers responded to reports of an injured woman in a parking lot near East 11th Avenue and North Peoria Street. Officers located a woman with serious injuries who was quickly transported to the hospital. The woman stated that she had just met a man a short time prior to the incident and was driven to this location around 1:30a. The man ended up choking her unconscious, pushed her out of the vehicle and then running her over. The man left the scene and the victim laid in the parking lot for hours before being discovered.

District 1 Detectives immediately began investigating this incident. The victim, who had to be hospitalized numerous times since the incident happened, died from her injuries on April 19. It was at this time that Detectives from the Major Crimes Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Just recently, a suspect was positively identified.

On May 3, Aurora Police Homicide Detectives arrested Jordan Howard (9/19/1997) and booked him into the Aurora Jail early this morning on suspicion of 1st Degree Murder. This case will now be prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Jordan’s booking photo has been included below.
