(August 21) On Friday, August 20, 2020, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Aurora Police Officers responded to  10693 East Jewell Avenue on reports of a shooting.

Officer's arrived and located two adults, one female and one male, each suffering from a gunshot wound. Both were transported to the hospital where they have since succumbed to their injuries.

The identity of the male and female will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after they have been positively identified, and their respective next of kin have been notified.

Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are actively investigating. A weapon was located on scene and we do not believe that there are any outstanding suspects.

(August 18, 2020) UPDATE: On August 17, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. Aurora Police officers responded to a stabbing at 1635 South Mobile Street where tragically a man lost his life. 

Since then, the Aurora Police Major Crimes Homicide Unit has continued investigation and are announcing the arrest of Craig James Kilgore Junior DOB 4-21-94.  Kilgore was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder on August 17th, 2020 in the afternoon.  Included with this updated press release is the Aurora Police Department booking photo of Mr. Kilgore. 

The 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office will be the prosecuting, and all additional media inquiries should be directed there.

(August 17, 2020) This afternoon at 4:39 p.m. Aurora Police Officers responded to a reported stabbing at 1635 South Mobile Street. 


Upon officer’s arrival they located one adult male suffering from apparent knife wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  
 

 All involved parties have been identified, and there is no threat to the community.  It is not yet known what occurred that led up to the fatal stabbing.


The identity of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after he has been positively identified, and his next of kin have been notified.

Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are actively investigating this as a Homicide.

Shortly after midnight the Aurora Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment home in the 200 block of South Joplin Circle in the Centre Pointe Neighborhood.

Upon arrival officers found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, he was pronounced at the scene. Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded and are actively investigating this case which is in it's early stages.  No information about what lead up to this shooting or details about the suspect(s) are available at this time.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified about his death.

(July 7th, 2020) Early this morning at approximately 12:12 A.M., Aurora Police Officers were called to the area of East Colfax Avenue and North Beeler Street on reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a mid 30’s female on the ground who had been shot and was deceased. In the immediate vicinity of the female, Officers found another victim, an adult male, who also had been shot. The male was transported to an area hospital where, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.

Both victims’ identities will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office once they has been positively identified and next of kin have been notified.

Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are actively investigating. At this early stage in the investigation, it is unknown what led up to the incident and there is no suspect information.

(June 25th, 2020) This evening at approximately 8 p.m. Aurora Police Department Officers were called to the area of East 19th Avenue and North Oswego Street on a report of a shooting.  

 

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 24-year-old male unconscious, lying on the ground, and bleeding.  The male was transported to an area hospital where, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.  

 

The victim’s identity will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office once he has been identified and his next of kin have been notified.  

 

Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit are on scene and actively investigating.  At this early stage in the investigation, it is unknown what led up to the incident and there is no suspect information.

UPDATE:  An arrest has been made in this case.   Stephen Minks-Morgan DOB 05/07/1994 has been arrested for First Degree Murder.

Information Previously Released on June 24th, 2020

(June 24, 2020) This evening at approximately 7:00 p.m. Aurora Police Department officers responded to a transient encampment near South Parker Road and South Peoria Street on a reported stabbing.


Upon officer’s arrival they located a 33-
year-old male victim suffering from puncture wounds.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries this evening.

His identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

 

At this time, a possible suspect is described as a white male in his mid-twenties, approximately 6’3” tall, 185 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.  Right now our investigation suggests this was an isolated incident between the victim and the suspect.  This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation.

This homicide is being investigated by the Aurora Police Department Major Crimes/Homicide Unit.  We urge anyone with information about this homicide to call Agent Prince

(June 24, 2020) On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at approximately 4:27p.m, District 1 Patrol Officers responded to reporst of a shooting at the EZ Pawn, located at 797 North Peoria Street, which was called in by an employee.

 

Upon arrival, officers located two adult males inside of the business, each suffering from gunshot wounds. Both males were immediately transported to a local hospital where they have succumbed to their injuries. It appears that both males were shooting at each other. There were no other injuries to any store employees or bystanders.

 

At this time, we are not looking for any additional suspects and we do not believe that there is a danger to the general public. There were weapons that were recovered on scene and investigators will be reviewing surveillance cameras from both inside of the business and on the exterior to determine what led up to the shooting. 

 

The names of both victims will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once the victims have been positively identified and their next of kin have been notified.

On June 18th, 2020 at around 6:20 a.m., the Aurora Police Department Public Safety Communication Center received reports of an unresponsive male lying on the ground. 

Officers responded to 10653 E. Jewell Avenue, The Willowick Apartments, and found an adult male lying on the ground, bleeding, and unresponsive.  Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the scene but the victim was, sadly, deceased. 

Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit are on scene and actively investigating.  It is unknown what led up to the incident and at this time there is no suspect information. 

The victim’s identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and next of kin have been notified.

On June 1, 2020, at around 12:20 P.M., the Aurora Police Department Public Safety Communications Center received reports of a shooting near East 16th Avenue and North Akron Street.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition but has succumbed to his injuries.

This is still an active investigation and investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit are working to determine what led to the shooting and death of the victim. His identity will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

On May 21st, 2020, at 6:29 p.m., Aurora Police Officers responded to reports of a fight that led to a shooting at Utah Park located at 1800 South Peoria Street.  All involved parties fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.


A short time later officers learned an adult male was dropped off, by an unknown party, at an area hospital with a gunshot wound, and was in critical condition.  Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.  The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified, and his next of kin have been notified.


A second male arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound and is expected to survive.
  This male arrived via ambulance from a location in Arapahoe County.


At this time,
 
we do not have anyone in custody, and are actively working to determine who the suspect(s) are.  At this early stage in the investigation we believe this was an isolated incident, and there is not an immediate danger to the public.


This incident is now being investigated as a Homicide by the Aurora Police Department Major Crimes/Homicide Unit.
