(October 3) One man has died following a shooting in a North Aurora alleyway.

On October 2, 2021, at 9:18 p.m., the Aurora Police Department was called to the 1900blk of North Del Mar Parkway on reports of shooting. Officers arrived and located a 26-year-old man in the east alleyway of that location suffering from a gunshot would. The man has tragically pronounced deceased after being transported to the hospital.

Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Homicide Unit responded and is conducting the investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses, gathering physical evidence and currently trying to identify a suspect.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office after the victim has been positively identified and next-of-kin notified.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have observed this incident, and have not yet spoken to police, to please reach out to the Aurora Police Major Crimes Homicide Unit or the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867, where tipsters can remain anonymous.

On September 28, 2021 at approximately 1:49a.m. Aurora Police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 1200 Block of North Worchester Street in the Hoffman Heights Neighborhood.

Initial investigation reveals that an unknown vehicle pulled up in front of a residence on that block and fired multiple rounds at it.  A 47-year-old woman who was inside of the home was struck. The suspect vehicle fled the area after the shooting. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. At this time there is no information available regarding the description of the suspect(s) or the involved vehicle.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time. It will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once she has been positively identified and next of kin have been notified about her death.

Investigators from the Major Crimes Homicide Unit are conducting the investigation into this shooting death.  They are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

(September 25) The Aurora Police Major Crimes Homicide Unit is conducting an investigation after two adult males died in an apartment complex in northwest Aurora.

On September 25, 2021, at approximately 3:40 p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to 1575 North Galena Street on reports of a shooting. Officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Simultaneously, officers also located an adult male who was also seriously injured, possibly from being stabbed. The male who sustained the gunshot wound was transported to a local hospital where he has since been pronounced deceased. The male other male was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Homicide Unit responded to the scene and will be responsible for this investigation. Initial information obtained is that both males were involved in a fight and both assaulted one another. A handgun and a knife were both located on scene. Detectives do not believe that there are any outstanding suspects. 

The identities of the deceased, as well as causes of death, will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office after both of them have been positively identified and their next-of-kin notified.

Detectives will continue interviewing witnesses but are asking anyone that may have observed this incident, and have not yet spoken to police, to please reach out to the Aurora Police Major Crimes Homicide Unit or the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867, where tipsters can remain anonymous.

(September 5) A male is in custody after killing his girlfriend at the City Center Station Apartments.

On September 5, 2021, at 7:58 a.m., the Aurora Police Department was called to the 1100blk of South Carson Court on reports of an injured person. Officers arrived and located a 20-year-old woman suffering from apparent physical trauma. The woman was tragically pronounced deceased on scene. A man was also located in the apartment and was immediately detained.

Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Homicide Unit responded to conduct the investigation. After obtaining statements and collecting evidence, detectives arrested the man, who is identified as Dakota Chinnock (04/06/2001), and charged him with First Degree Murder. The identity of the woman will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner after she is positively identified and her next-of-kin has been notified.

A motive behind this brutal attack is not yet known. Detectives will continue their investigation and are asking anyone who has information about this incident, who have not yet spoken to police, to please reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

(August 25) On Wednesday, August 25th, at 7:52 p.m., Aurora 911 received multiple calls reporting a shooting in the 800 block of South Buckley Road.

Upon officer’s arrival to the area they discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside of 830 South Buckley Road. Tragically he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The name of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office after a positive identification and notification to next-of-kin have been made.

The Aurora Police Department Major Crimes Homicide Unit is investigating this incident as a homicide. At this time, investigators are conducting interviews and collecting evidence to help identify a suspect, and to determine the facts and circumstances that led to this fatal shooting.

(August 19) On Thursday, August 19, 2021 at approximately 6:47 p.m., Aurora police officers responded to multiple callers reporting a shooting at 14704 East 2nd Avenue.

Upon officer’s arrival they discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries.

The name of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office after a positive identification and notification to next-of-kin have been made.

The Aurora Police Department Major Crimes Homicide Unit is investigating this incident as a homicide. At this early time in the investigation, the facts and circumstances that led up to the shooting, to include suspect information, are still being determined.

(August 8, 2021) On Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:36p.m. officers responded to the Aurora Police District 1 Station located at 13347 East Montview Boulevard after a man called to report that he had killed a woman.

Upon arrival officers contacted Jesus Mendoz-Prudente and discovered that the homicide he was reporting had taken place earlier in the morning inside of an apartment at 1530 Beeler Street.  However, they were not able to obtain where the body of the female victim was located.  

After following up on investigative leads, investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit, with the assistance of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office located the 34-year-old victim In the area of Noe Road and HIghway 105 in Douglas County on Saturday, August 7th.

Mendoza-Prudente was arrested for First Degree Murder and is currently being held at the Aurora Detention Center.  The identity of the victim will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office once she has been positively identifed and her next of kin have been notified.

(August 3) On Friday, July 30, 2021 at approximately 12:14 p.m., Aurora police officers responded to the 18500 block of East Kansas Place on a reported shooting.

Upon officers arrival they located one deceased adult male who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers discovered an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds nearby. She was transported to an area hospital and tragically succumbed to those injuries on July 31, 2021.

The two deceased were known to one another and were married. It is not clear if they were married at the time of this incident. 

The names of the deceased were released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office today, August 3, 2021, via a news release after a positive identification and notification of next-of-kin was made.

(July 30) On Friday, July 30, 2021 at approximately 12:14 p.m., Aurora police officers responded to the 18500 block of East Kansas Place on a reported shooting.

Upon officer’s arrival they located an adult female near a vehicle in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital and remains in critical condition at this time.

While officers were on scene tending to the adult female victim, they located a deceased adult male in the nearby roadway.

The early investigation has revealed the two were known to one another, and there is no additional threat to the community. Investigators have not yet been able to determine what led up to the shooting.

The name of the deceased male will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office after a positive identification and notification of next-of-kin has been made.

(July 19) On Monday, June 28th, 2021, at approximately 11:20 a.m., District 2 Patrol Officers responded to a welfare check at 695 North Dillon Way. The 911 caller reported seeing a female lying in the grass, bleeding.

Detectives from our Major Crimes/Homicide Unit have identified the suspect responsible for this homicide. The suspect has been positively identified as Eric Huff (06/28/1976). 

Investigators began the process of trying to locate Huff and on July 11, Aurora Police Detectives were notified by Denver Police Detectives about a death investigation being conducted by them involving Eric Huff.

This case is now closed.

(June 28) On Monday, June 28th, 2021, at approximately 11:20 a.m., District 2 Patrol Officers responded to a welfare check at 695 North Dillon Way. The 911 caller reported seeing a female lying in the grass, bleeding.

Officers located an adult female who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and had obvious traumatic injuries. She was declared deceased on scene. This case is classified as a homicide and will be investigated by our Major Crimes Homicide Unit. Detectives will begin to examine the physical evidence from the crime scene and will determine what exactly led up to this homicide. There is no suspect information available.

The name of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office after a positive identification and notification of next-of-kin.

(July 15) On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 6:30 p.m., District 1 Patrol Officers responded to the parking lot of the McDonald’s, located at 2651 South Parker Road, on reports of a shooting.

The Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Unit is announcing the arrest of Treyvion Simpson (DOB: 04/27/1999). Simpson was arrested today, July 15, 2021, and has been charged with Colorado Revised Statute 18-3-102 Murder in the First Degree in relation to this homicide. The booking photo for Simpson has been provided at the bottom of this news release.

We want to thank the Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Unit for their continued work on this case as well as the Aurora Police SWAT and F.A.S.T Unit and Denver SWAT for assisting in today's arrest.


This homicide is being prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and any additional media inquiries should be directed there.

(June 29) On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 6:30 p.m., District 1 Patrol Officers responded to the parking lot of the McDonald’s, located at 2651 South Parker Road, on reports of a shooting.

Officers located an adult male who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. This male was quickly transported to the hospital by paramedics but has tragically died from his injuries. This case is being investigated by our Major Crimes Homicide Unit and detectives will work to determine what exactly led up to this shooting. The only suspect information available at this time is that the suspect was driving a silver vehicle.

The name of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office after a positive identification and notification of next-of-kin.
