UPDATE: Aurora Police Major Crimes Unit announces the arrest of Margarito Najera Date of Birth March 15, 1974, as shown in the attached photo, in the homicide that occurred on April 28th, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. in the 9500 block of East 14th Avenue in Northwest Aurora.
There are no other updates in this case which is expected to be filed with the 18th Judicial District Attorney's office today, May 1, 2017. At that time all media inquires should be directed to their office.
Police are not releasing the name of the victim who was killed, that will be done by the Arapahoe County Coroner's office once he is positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

Information previously released April 28, 2017:
On April 28th and around 8:45a.m. this morning Aurora Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 9500 Block of East 14th Avenue in Northwest Aurora.
Upon arrival Officer found two adult male shooting victims near the entrance to an alleyway, which is located mid block between Clinton and Dallas Streets. An officer immediately began life saving measures (CPR) until Paramedics from the Aurora Fire Rescue Department arrived on scene. Both victims were transported to a local hospital where one of the victims died from his injuries. The other victim is expected to survive.
A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene. At this time Aurora Police are not looking for any additional suspect.
Detectives from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are actively investigating this homicide to determine what events lead up to this deadly shooting.
Police are not releasing the name of the victim who was killed, that will be done by the Arapahoe County Coroner's office once the he is positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

UPDATE-Press release from the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office:
17th Judicial District Attorney Dave Young announced Friday that formal charges of first-degree murder after deliberation have been filed against Jose Luis Lozoya in the stabbing death of 18-year-old Alonzo Devault on Monday.
Aurora police responding to a 911 call found Devault with multiple stab wounds on the ground in a parking lot at 14551 E. Colfax Avenue on at about 12:20 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16.
Lozoya (DOB 11/04/92) is charged with one count of first-degree murder after deliberation (F1). He was advised of the charge Friday morning and a preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Feb. 21 in Division T of Adams County District Court. Lozoya is held without bond.

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual committed a crime under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

On January 16, 2017, at approximately 12:20 p.m. Aurora Police were dispatched to a report of a physical altercation between two parties in the 1600 Block of N. Eagle St. Upon arrival officers located an adult male who had been stabbed. Officers on scene rendered aid to the victim and rescue personnel were summoned to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The suspect, an adult male, was located by officers in the area. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The identity of the suspect is not being released at time. They are actively investigating this case and interviewing witnesses.
Detectives from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation into this case.
The name of the deceased victim will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office once they have positively identified him and his next of kin have been notified.

On November 24, 2016, at approximately 2:29 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Travelodge, 14200 East 6th Avenue. When they arrived they discovered an adult male who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumb to his injuries.
Detectives from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation into this case. They are actively investigating this case and interviewing witnesses to determine what occurred this morning.

Information previously released on November 9th, 2016
On Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at approximately 11:21 a.m. Aurora Police were dispatched to a report of a party shot at 142 Del Mar Circle. Upon officers arrival they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers on scene rendered aid to the victim and rescue personnel were summoned to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Officers received information that the suspect involved in the shooting was possibly at a residence in Denver at 14572 East 46th Avenue. When the officers arrived, shots were exchange between the suspect and the officers. An Aurora Police Officer was shot and transported to the hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Detectives from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit are handling the investigation into the Del Mar Circle Homicide. Since the officer involved shooting occurred in the city limits of Denver, the Denver Police Department is taking lead on this investigation. Major Crimes Detectives will be assisting.

The Major Crime/Homicide Unit is looking to identify two black males that were armed with handguns in connection to the homicide. At this time we are not releasing any additional information as investigators are thoroughly reviewing all available evidence.

The Aurora Police Department is investigating a robbery in Southeast Aurora that left one adult male deceased.
On Saturday June 18, 2016, at approximately 9:44 p.m. officers were dispatched to 19005 East Quincy Avenue, Green Heart Marijuana Dispensary, on report of a robbery with shots fired. When they arrived on scene they located a security guard inside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

UPDATE: The Major Crimes/Homicide Unit has identified James Anthony Draper DOB 10/23/82 as a person of interest in this homicide. On Saturday September 10th, 2016 at approximately 7:16 a.m. officers responded to the Americana Apartments located at 407 South Memphis Way Apartment 300, to check the welfare of a party inside.
Upon arrival officers found a slightly ajar door with a deceased 29 year old adult black female with an apparent gun show wound to the body on the floor. No other occupants were in the residence at the time, and no suspects are in custody.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office once a positive identification has been made, and next of kind has been notified.

On Friday, September 2, 2016 at 11:23 p.m. officers responded to 1009 S. Newark Street on a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim with injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation revealed that there was an altercation between the victim and a male known to him. The suspect was identified as Ruben Martinez DOB 03/17/95. Martinez has since been arrested by the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit for Second Degree Murder.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once a positive identification has been made, and next of kin has been notified.
