On May 6, 2019, around 5:50 P.M., Aurora Police Officers responded to 4700 South Memphis Street, near Wagon Trail Park, on reports of a shooting. Officers quickly arrived and observed bystanders tending to an injured male who was suffering from a gunshot wound. This teenage juvenile male was transported to a nearby hospital where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Positive identification of the victim, and notification of the next-of-kin, will be done by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

The suspect is still at-large and is described as a late teens, early 20’s, white male that is skinny and 5’10’’. This male was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black jeans. We are reminding residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to our dispatch center.

The Aurora Police Department Major Crimes/Homicide Unit is conducting the investigation. We ask anyone who was a witness, or has information about this homicide, to please call Aurora Police Agent Chad Lampson at 303-739-6013. Tipsters can also remain anonymous, and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, by contacting Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).

This is tragically the 3rd homicide of 2019 that involves a juvenile being senselessly killed. With the summer months approaching, we are pleading to the parents of our community to have the tough conversations with their children and know where your children are and who they are with. It should be everyone’s responsibly to ensure that none of our children fall victim to anymore of this futile violence.

On May 2nd at 8:44 PM, Aurora Police and Aurora Fire Rescue (AFR) responded to a rollover crash on westbound 32nd Pkwy west of Himalaya.  There they found that a Penske delivery truck had run off the right side of the road and overturned.  The male driver and lone occupant, was ejected and trapped under the vehicle as it rolled.  The driver was extracted from under the vehicle by AFR and declared deceased.  Distracted driving as well as a failure to wear a seat belt are factors being investigated in this crash by the Aurora Police Traffic Section.

The identity of the driver is not being released at this time.  It may be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office at a later date.
