An outcast teenage lesbian witch finds her coven hidden amongst the popular girls in her school, and performs some seriously badass magic in the process. Skulking near the bottom of West High's social pyramid, Sideways Pike lurks under the bleachers doing magic tricks for Coke bottles. As a witch, lesbian, and lifelong outsider, she's had a hard time making friends. But when the three most popular girls pay her $40 to cast a spell at their Halloween party, Sideways gets swept into a new clique. The unholy trinity are dangerous angels, sugar-coated rattlesnakes, and now-unbelievably-Sideways' best friends. Together, the four bond to form a ferocious and powerful coven. They plan parties, cast curses on dudebros, try to find Sideways a girlfriend, and elude the fundamentalist witch hunters hellbent stealing their magic. But for Sideways, the hardest part is the whole 'having friends' thing. Who knew that balancing human interaction with supernatural peril could be so complicated? Rich with the urgency of feral youth, The Scapegracers explores growing up and complex female friendship with all the rage of a teenage girl. It subverts the trope of competitive mean girls and instead portrays a mercilessly supportive clique of diverse and vivid characters. It is an atmospheric, voice-driven novel of the occult, and the first of a three-book series.

(October 31) The Aurora Police Traffic Section is investigating a fatal crash on South Chambers Road that tragically left one teenage boy deceased.

On October 31, 2021, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Aurora Police Department responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on South Chambers Road near East Hampden Circle. Officers located a 15-year-old boy who had been struck by a Subaru Forester. The teenage boy was transported to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, remained on scene.

Aurora Police Traffic Investigators determined the Subaru was traveling northbound on South Chambers Road just south of East Hampden Circle. Initial investigations indicate that the teenage boy stepped into the pathway of the vehicle and was struck. Aurora Police Traffic Investigators do not believe that the Subaru was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Drugs or alcohol also do not appear to be additional contributing factors.

The identity of the teenage boy will be released the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once a positive identification has been made and next-of-kin have been notified.

This remains an active investigation. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has dash-camera footage of the incident, and have not yet spoke to police, to contact the Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867.

On October 18, 2021 at approximately 7:50p.m. Aurora Police responded to a call of a person struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Village Green Park which is located at 1300 South Chambers Circle.  It was reported that the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene on foot.

Investigators from the Traffic Section believe that the mini-van, which was a stolen vehicle, was being driven by a juvenile female at the time of the crash.  The victim was hanging on the front of the vehicle when he slid off, fell underneath, and was then run over.

The driver of the vehicle eventually returned to the scene of the crash and spoke with investigators. At this time no arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time. It will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.
