Aurora Police Department Explorer Post 2024

Law Enforcement Exploring is a division of the Learning for Life program. Post 2024 has been sponsored and operated by the Aurora Police Department since 1980.

Exploring is a worksite based program for young men and women ages 15 to 21. Explorer posts help youth gain insight into the field of law enforcement while giving them the opportunity to serve the community and the department. Members of Post 2024 provide over 8000 hours of service to the department and community each year. The Explorer Post has over 2 dozen alumni currently working in law enforcement careers from police officers to federal agents.

Explorer Traffic Stop
A Police Explorer during a training exercise.
Aurora Police Explorers are uniformed volunteers who receive basic law enforcement training, ride along with patrol officers, perform community service work, assist the department with traffic and crowd control at community events, compete against other explorer posts from around the country at conferences, and participate in social events such as paintball and camping. The post also offers college scholarship opportunities for those Explorers that excel in the program.
