Sewer usage charges are based on “winter quarter average,” which calculates average water consumption from December through February. Your usage varies from year to year, so the average is recalculated each spring. The new sewer charges are reflected on your April bill.

Aurora Water’s Budget Billing offers customers the ability to spread utility costs evenly throughout the year. We take into account your utility costs, historical usage and seasonal fluctuations in water use to provide a more predictable bill each month. How does Budget Billing work? We will use your previous 12 months of consumption history to determine your monthly payment. Once the amount is determined, you then pay only your budgeted amount every month by the due date. You will still receive a monthly bill so you can monitor your consumption, actual charges, and actual balance.
Since Budget Billing amounts are based on estimates of your anticipated water use, in September of each year, your account will be settled. You then pay any outstanding balances and any credits will roll over to the next month’s bill. You may cancel Budget Billing at any time. Once canceled, your account will be settled and any overages or underpayments will appear on your next bill.
To remain on Budget Billing, you must pay at least your Budget Billing amount every month. Failure to do so may result in your removal from the program. An excellent way to ensure that your bill is paid each month is to sign up for Aurora easyPay. Your account must be good standing to qualify. Tenants/renters must obtain owner/landlord approval prior to applying.
