Xeriscape Rebate Program

Xeriscape is a sustainable and drought tolerant landscape
that uses low-water plants to maximize outdoor water efficiency

Because of its reduced watering needs and drought tolerance, xeriscape is a great landscape option for our climate. When compared to a traditional grass landscape which typically needs 28 inches of supplemental water each year, xeriscape can get by with 15 inches or less. It may also need less maintenance than a lawn.

Aurora Water customers interested in converting a healthy grass lawn to xeriscape may be eligible for a rebate of up to $1.00 per square foot. An additional $.25 per square foot rebate may be available for qualifying hardscape materials. The maximum rebate is $10,000 for residential customers and $25,000 for commercial and large properties such as Homeowners’ Associations and multi-family residences. To be eligible, a minimum of 500 square feet of healthy turf must be removed. Front yards with less than 500 square feet or projects removing turf in the entire tree lawn are exempt from this minimum.

Eligibility and approval must be obtained from the Water Conservation Office prior to beginning the project. See rebate applications for specific requirements. For more information, call Zach Versluis at 720-859-4366 or email conservation@auroragov.org.
