Colfax 2012 Visioning

The city of Aurora conducted a public input process to create a vision and identify goals and strategies for the development of the Colfax corridor from Yosemite Street to Interstate 225. The three workshops that took place from July through October 2012 involved more than 150 residents, businesses and stakeholders, and resulted in the adoption of a vision statement.

The effort further identified three opportunity areas along Colfax, and provided strategic topics for future actions. The community prioritized the following four topics as the highest priorities:

  • Arts, Entertainment & Tourism
  • Business & Economic Development
  • Poverty & Social Issues
  • Cleanliness & Safety

Because Arts, Entertainment and Tourism was identified as one of the community's top priorities, the Aurora City Council has asked staff to establish a
2013 work plan, which focuses on redevelopment, improvements and programs within the Aurora Cultural Arts District. The work program has goals that relate to all the community's strategic focus areas and provides strategies for each goal.
