The magazine evaluates 35 criteria, including air quality, death rates, employment, life expectancy and commute times and the ratio of single women to single men, to determine the rankings. It then boils down the information into individual rankings in the three categories of life, fitness and health. Those rankings combined determine the overall ranking.
