The International Accreditation Service (IAS) recently renewed the city of Aurora Building Division's full accreditation status. The division is the only building department in the state and among only 11 in the country to have achieved accreditation.
Full accreditation through IAS allows Aurora's Building Division, which operates under the city’s Public Works Department, to obtain periodic and independent evaluations of the division's processes through a nationally recognized leader in the field of accreditation.
In working toward re-accreditation, the Building Division has been able to validate departmental effectiveness; improve the level of professionalism and customer service; create a plan for improvements; make the department more desirable in the eyes of highly skilled employment candidates; and be considered among the best building departments across the country.
The Building Division first achieved accreditation in 2008, joining the city's other accredited departments, which are the Police Department, the Fire Department and the Public Works Department.
The accreditation process took over a year to complete in order to achieve the highest standards of compliance in more than 112 best practices.
As a recognized leader in the accreditation field since 1975, IAS is dedicated to enhancing the standard of excellence for the building profession.
