Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant ($2,851,300)

Over $2.7 billion in formula grants became available nationwide under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, funded for the first time under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This program provides funds to units of local and state government, Indian tribes, and territories to develop and implement projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions in their communities. The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).  Aurora was allocated $2,851,300 through a formula distribution.  City staff is currently developing the required spending strategy that serves as the basis of the application to receive this funding.  More information will be posted on the website following approval of the City’s spending strategy by the US Department of Energy.
