Aurora libraries to host health events for community in October

AURORA, Colo. – The Aurora Public Library is hosting two events this month that are geared toward benefitting the health and welfare of the community.

Just in time for Halloween, the Bonfils Bus will be taking blood donations from 10 to 11:40 a.m. and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Aurora Central Library, 14949 E. Alameda Parkway. Bonfils needs more than 4,000 donations each week to meet the community’s needs. To schedule an appointment, call the Bonfils Appointment Center at 303-363-2300 and request an appointment for site code 6964 or visit www.bonfils.org.

To combat the standard flu this season, a free seasonal flu shot clinic for ages 10 and older will take place from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Oct. 30 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library/Municipal Services Center, 9898 E. Colfax Ave. The shots are available to citizens who cannot get a flu shot due to cost or a lack of medical insurance. Youth ages 10 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Everyone who is in line by 9:30 a.m. will receive a flu shot. Enter the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library/Municipal Services Center through the door on the southeast side of the building. While the shots are free, donations are welcome. The program is presented by the Original Aurora Family Resource Center, and funded through a grant from St. Anthony Hospital Foundation and the Sisters of Charity. For more information on the flu shot clinic, call 303-739-1940.
