The Traffic Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for installing and maintaining traffic devices on public streets in Aurora.
Requests for traffic devices, such as signs, signals, crosswalks and lane markings, often come from our residents. Those requests can be made by calling Traffic Engineering at 303-739-7300. Each request is investigated with an eye toward providing a safe and efficient environment for travel in Aurora.
Requests for new street lights to illuminate roadways are also handled by Traffic Engineering but once these lights are installed they are maintained by the Public Service Company of Colorado. If a street light in your neighborhood isn't coming on at night, you can report it to Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-4999.
The Traffic Division appreciates hearing from its customers concerning traffic devices that are in need of maintenance. Damaged or defaced traffic signs or problems with traffic signals can be reported to Traffic Operations at 303-326-8200 for prompt attention. After regular work hours, a technician can be dispatched by the Aurora Police Department for emergency needs.
