TRI-COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT (TCHD)

ATTENTION: All applicants submitting construction plans for retail food establishments, daycare centers, preschool programs, group homes, fountain water attractions and public swimming pools are also responsible for meeting the separate requirement of the Tri-County Health Department. The TCHD will require a plan review application to be submitted for review and approval prior to opening. -City of Aurora ordinance requires a permit and licensed contractor* be obtained to build, construct, alter, repair, add to, demolish or move any building or structure or any portion thereof. *Homeowner’s can obtain a permit for their primary residence.

When a building permit has been issued for any construction within the City, the homeowner listed on the permit carries the responsibility and liability for all of the construction work and for ensuring that all facets of the project conform to the applicable regulations and code provisions of the City of Aurora. Types of inspections will vary depending on the scope of work. The order they are called for is important. RECORDS REQUESTS

Municipal Records will have historical records for building permits and/or building plans. Determining if your records request is a routine or non- routine request can be answered by the City Clerk’s office. If you use a Open Records Request, it generates from the City Clerk’s office, and routes through legal. When we receive this request depending on the scope of research time we will notify you of both research and copy fees. Research fees (follows City Clerks fee schedule) are $29.25 per hour with ˝ hour minimum, or for voluminous records requests research fees will be a minimum of $47.00 per hour. If you prefer to research on your own at no cost you can go to the City Clerk’s office located on the first floor.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

The following links are to departments that are often associated with the Building Division: The Finance Department, specifically Tax and Licensing has a handout called the Tax Guideline for Building Permit. This will answer many questions you may have regarding the use tax that is paid for on a permit. The Public Works Department, specifically Public Improvement Inspections will assist you with retaining walls, driveways, sidewalk, curb and gutter as well as concrete and asphalt within the Right-of-Way. 303-739-7350.
