School Resource Officer (SRO) Program

The objective for the School Resource Officer Program (SRO) is to provide a safe, healthy learning environment for our children. It is designed to create the opportunity to positively impact youth, build community interaction, and reduce crime and its effects. The primary focus of the SRO Program is to take a proactive approach against juvenile delinquency by promoting positive relations between youth and law enforcement.

SRO’s are assigned to work in one or two schools in a given district. They perform normal law enforcement functions in and around the school, along with providing education and counseling to the students in their school. SRO’s teach Drug Abuse Resistance (DARE) classes, safety classes, and other school programs as requested.

SRO’s may also attend some expulsion hearings and school board meetings.
