Answer the following questions to determine if reporting your incident on line is right for you.

1. Is this an emergency?
|
|
|
2. Is this crime currently in progress?
|
|
|
3. Is this crime a violent crime (personal assault, kidnapping, robbery etc.), sex crime (rape, sexual assault etc.), stolen vehicle (truck, car, trailer, motorcycle etc.), lost/stolen license plate, home burglary, domestic violence, an assault and battery, or a traffic accident involving an injury?

4. Did this incident occur outside the Aurora city limits?
|
|
|
|
If you answered, “Yes” to question #1, #2, or #3 call 9-1-1 to report the matter.
If you answered, “Yes” to question #4 please call the law enforcement agency for that city or county where the incident took place to report the matter.
If you answered, “No” to all of the above questions, you are ready to file your report online.

Using the Aurora Police Online Reporting System you can report the following incidents listed below (please choose one).
Please complete this form as accurately and completely as possible. This will help us screen your report for potential investigation. If you need to report more than one type of crime (or multiple instances), please complete a separate Report Form for each one. Each report will be reviewed. If additional information is needed or required you will be contacted by email or phone.
Depending upon the type of information provided there may be a determination made to continue investigation the incident. A detective will not contact you unless additional information is required.

Warning - Filing a false police report is a crime.
Any person who knowingly provides false information or causes false information to be transmitted on a report to law enforcement authorities, whether regarding the incident or identity information of the parties involved, commits a third degree misdemeanor punishable by fines and will be prosecuted.

Report Lost or Missing Property
|

Definition :
|
When property is missing or lost
|
|
|
Example : Property that is missing, leaving items in a restaurant, or missing from your home. If you are reporting a lost or stolen cellular telephone it is your responsibility to report the loss or theft to your cell phone provider.
|

|
|
|
Report Theft or Larceny
|
|
|
Definition :
|
Your property is taken without your permission. This does not include theft of a motor vehicle. If the theft is the motor vehicle call the Police Department at 303-627-3100. If the theft is from a motor vehicle make your report here.
|

|
Example : Items such as a lawn mower from your yard, a purse out of a grocery cart or a decorative statue from your garden.
|
|

Report Damaged Property or Vandalism (Not to a vehicle)
|
|
|
Definition :
|
A person causes damage to real or personal property owned by you.
|
|
|
Example : Someone knocks down your mail box, breaks a window, or spray paints graffiti on your fence, house, or garage.
|
|
|
|
|
Report Vandalism to a Vehicle
|
|
|
Definition :
|
A person causes damage to a motor vehicle owned by you.
|
|
|
Example : Some one scratches your car with a key, breaks out a tail or head light, or causes some other type of damage to your car.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Report Larceny from a Vehicle
|
|
|
|
Definition:
|
Property is taken from inside your vehicle without your permission. This does include property removed from the bed of a pickup truck. This does not include the theft of a motor vehicle!

|
Example: Someone takes your cell phone, camera or other personal property item that you had left inside your vehicle.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Supplemental Report Stolen Property from a Burglary
|

Definition:
|
If you have previously reported a burglary to the Aurora Police Department and have a case number that the responding officer provided, you may report additional stolen property that you have discovered missing on this report.
|
|
|
Example: You filed a burglary report with an Aurora Police officer and you have a case number. After the officer left, you found that your were missing more jewelry than you had originally reported to the officer and need to add the information to your report.

|
|
|
Report Non-Injury Vehicle Accident or Non-Injury Hit-And-Run Vehicle Accident
|
|
|
If your report is a “Non Injury Hit & Run Vehicle Accident” or a “Non Injury Vehicle Accident” be advised your report will not be investigated. You can report your accident directly using the Aurora Police Departments Accident Reporting System.
