Aurora’s trail system is composed of a series of on-street bike-lanes, sidewalks, and off-street trails. To receive the expanded Aurora Park & Trail System Map by mail please call 303.739.7160, or print an 8.5” x 11” MAP.
Off-street trails are managed by the Parks and Open Space Department.

Major Trail Corridors
|
Cherry Creek Spillway Trail provides off-street connection to Cherry Creek State Park (CCSP) and the Cherry Creek Trail. Access the Spillway Trail in Aurora at Chambers Rd & Yale Ave, just across from Olympic Park. Once inside the popular State Park get on the Cherry Creek Trail and head west to the South Platte in Denver, 13 miles away. No fee if you walk or ride your bike into CCSP. West access of the Spillway Trail is at the Parker Road underpass for Hampden Avenue. MAP

High Line Canal Trail: A regional resource with a historic past, the HLC Trail winds 11 miles through Aurora, entering just west of Expo Park. Another great access point is DeLaney Farm. The HLC Trail connects to Toll Gate Creek Trail at Alameda Ave, just east of Chambers Rd. The HLC Trail also connects to the Sand Creek Greenway Trail at Airport Blvd, just north of Colfax Avenue. The 14-mile Sand Creek Regional Greenway Trail is a soft surface trail that parallels the wildlife-rich Sand Creek corridor and runs from Aurora west to the Platte River in Denver. (NOTE: Construction related detours in Stapleton area). Access the Sand Creek Trail at Aurora’s Morrison Nature Center at Star K Ranch or Sand Creek Park. You can also access the Sand Creek Trail from High Line Canal Trail at Airport Blvd. MAP Visit www.sandcreekgreenway.org to learn more. Horses are welcome along the Sand Creek Greenway in Aurora. Sand Creek is part of the Front Range Trail.

The Toll Gate Creek Trail provides regional trail connections. It links to High Line Canal Trail at DeLaney Farm, connects to Cherry Creek Spillway Trail south of Horseshoe Park (north of Iliff on S. Kittredge Way), and meets the Powerline Trail on the eastern edge of Horseshoe Park. The trail splits south of Horseshoe Park and the western portion of Toll Gate Creek Trail runs past Meadowood Park, Mission Viejo Park and ends at Quincy Avenue. The eastern portion connects to Unnamed Creek Trail before passing Hamden Run Park, Summer Valley Park and ending just across from Quincy Reservoir.

Powerline Trail provides critical east-west connection for Aurora’s eastern neighborhoods to the regional Toll Gate Trail system. Access the trail from Great Plains Park or Horseshoe Park. MAP

The 3.5-mile Westerly Creek Trail travels north and south, connecting Cherry Creek State Park with the High Line Canal at Expo Park. Access the trail from either Expo Park or Utah Park. MAP

Horses are welcome in Aurora ONLY on the High Line Canal and Sand Creek Regional Greenway. Check with other jurisdictions regarding horse use on the High Line Canal or Sand Creek Greenway outside of Aurora.
