The much anticipated Wal-Mart Kid’s Fishing Derby is set for Saturday, June 7. This popular event is sponsored annually at the Aurora Reservoir by the Aurora Parks & Open Space Department. MAP Kids up to 15 years of age fish free and everyone wins prizes! This event is sponsored in part by Southshore.

Trails Day 2008 will be held Saturday, June 7 at DeLaney Farm. Registration for the Trails Day 5k event will begin April 1st. Fun events and activities for the whole family! Register Now and be sure to view the flyer for more info on this great event.

Utah Park Grand Re-opening will take place Saturday, Aug. 9 from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This much anticipated celebration will have fun activities for all ages. Utah Park is located at Jewell Ave. and Peoria St.

Environmental Programs – The City of Aurora Park and Open Space Naturalists offer a wide variety of on-site or in the classroom educational programs about ecosystems and animals that live in the Aurora area. Junior Rangers offer an opportunity for kids 6 – 10 to get outside and explore plants and animals of STAR K RANCH. Sept. – May, 2nd Sun. and Thurs. of each month (NO November classes), Thurs. and Sun. 9:30 - 11 AM, at the Morrison Nature Center at STAR K RANCH. FREE. Star K Kids includes a nature story, puppet show, or other activity for ages under 5. The program is free and is on Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. at the Morrison Nature Center at Star K Ranch. MAP Drop in or call 303-739-2428. (Join us at the AWQUA Lounge which opens on May 31, 2008)

Nature Series – The Nature Series is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month and features and educational program about an animal or plant found within Aurora’s natural areas. Times and locations vary. Please pre-register, seating is limited. Contact us at 303-739-2428.
