Red-tailed Hawk Park is located in southeast Aurora at the intersection of South Aurora Parkway and E. Hinsdale Way. Phase I of your newest community park is complete. Visit the expansive playground or stroll along the wetland boardwalk and connect to Piney Creek Regional Trail. Phase I is open for outdoor fun! Questions about this project? Project Status: PHASE II is underway! Many exciting facilities are included in Phase II, including an outdoor aquatic playground with interactive spray features; six competition-sized bocce ball courts, six horseshoe pits, an area for sand volleyball, shade shelters, vault restroom and regional trail connection. Phase II should be complete by Fall 2010.

   

Larkspur Park, a new neighborhood park in Saddle Rock, is located south of E. Arapahoe Road and west of E470 with the Piney Creek Regional Trail as its northernmost border. This neighborhood park will feature a playground for younger and older children, a park shelter with picnic tables and grills, and horseshoe pits for active adults. Also included is a Conservation Area with native grasses, shrubs, shade trees, seating, soft surface paths and a loop walk connecting to the Piney Creek Regional Trail.

Project Status: Construction is underway! The anticipated completion date is Summer 2010.

   

City Park is a 5.3 acre park near the intersection of 17th Avenue and Emporia Street. The park is set for renovation in 2010 and will include a new playground with climbing wall, small skate plaza, improved walking paths, and 100 new trees. New public art and shade structures are also included in the plan.
Funding: Great Outdoors Colorado, Adams County, and Aurora Park Development Fees
Project Status: Construction is now underway. Weather permitting; the park will reopen in Summer 2010.

   
 

Del Mar Park is located near East 6th Avenue and South Peoria Street. This community park features four lighted tennis courts and two full size basketball courts, a playground for younger and older children, a park shelter with picnic tables and grills, a public swimming pool, and the Aurora Center for Active Adults.
The City will be cleaning, resurfacing, restriping and making minor repairs to the existing tennis and basketball courts this Summer.

Project Status:
Construction is anticipated to start Summer of 2010. The anticipated completion date is Fall 2010

   

Aurora Reservoir: Work continues at the Peter D. Binney Water Purification Facility, which will treat water from the Prairie Waters Project – the fastest, most cost effective and environmentally sustainable way to meet Aurora’s water needs. Construction is almost 70 percent complete at the 80-acre site, located just east of the Reservoir’s main entry. Public access to the recreational activities at the Aurora Reservoir will remain open throughout the multi-year project.
Project Status:
Work will continue through 2010. Please obey all posted signs and keep clear of the construction area.

Trail Projects

   

Toll Gate Creek Trail& High Line Canal Trail – Toll Gate Creek Trail and High Line Canal Trail users will see detours around DeLaney Farm this summer because Aurora Water is constructing a parallel sanitary sewer line to accommodate increased flows.
