The Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department manages over 1,800 acres of developed park land within 108 park sites, offering a wide variety of facilities including athletic fields, innovative playgrounds, picnic shelters, tennis courts,* a skateboard bowl, basketball courts, a disc golf course, and a popular water sprayground.

The Department also maintains street medians, the landscape strip down the middle of larger roadways, as well as the landscaping around most of Aurora’s public buildings.

* Get a key for $2 for tennis courts at the Aurora Sports Office and most city recreation centers.

   
 

SHELTERS of every size and shape are located throughout Aurora’s park system. Many are available for rental for private parties whether it’s someone’s birthday or anniversary, a family reunion or a company picnic. To reserve a park shelter online or call 303-326-8721.

Special Features

Expo Park features an 18-hole disc golf course, miles of walking trails and a newly renovated recreation center. The park is located ¼ mile east of Havana on Exposition. MAP

Hoops Park

Great Plains features an outdoor spray ground, playgrounds, sports fields, basketball court, fitness stations, and walking paths. The park is located on 20100 E Jewell Avenue. MAP

Hoops Park has got game! This special use park features 3 high school regulation size, day use basketball courts. The Park is located off of 6th Avenue and Norfolk Street, 1.4 miles east of I-225. MAP

Olympic Park features lighted softball/baseball diamonds and soccer fields. A new neighborhood park is next door. The park is on Yale Avenue, ¼ mile east of Chambers Road. MAP

Sports Park is the place you’ll want to be if you play soccer, football, softball or baseball. The park is located just south of Colfax Avenue, ¾ mile east of Tower Road. MAP

Utah Park is a newly renovated community park perfect walking, picnicking, and just enjoying nature. The park is located on Peoria Street between Jewell Avenue and Mexico. MAP

Wheel Park has activities for every kind of bike, skate or skateboard. Located east of Chambers Road, the entrance to the Wheel Park is from Iliff Avenue, ¼ mile east of Chambers Road. MAP
