Featured Pet of the Week for November 16th
STANLEY

Stanley (ID# A129209) is a 6 year old, neutered male, Labrador Retriever. Stanley obviously had successful knee surgery at some point, but his leg healed well and he doesn’t show any sign of ongoing joint problems. Stanley is a wonderful Lab. Like most shelter dogs, he has a lot of energy when he first gets out of the kennel, but he soon settles down and really wants to please. Meet Stanley in kennel K18 at the Aurora Animal Shelter, 15750 E. 32nd Avenue. Call 303-326-8280 for more information.

Shelter Tip of the Week: Holiday Tips
If you are having holiday guests, provide a ‘time out’ place for your family pet where it can escape from noise or unwanted attention. Do not force your dog or cat to socialize with other people. Providing a treat and soft background music behind closed doors can go a long way towards helping everyone (both furry and human) have a pleasant Thanksgiving.

Animals for Adoption
The Aurora Animal Shelter has many wonderful animals available for adoption. You can visit them during the shelter’s normal hours of operation. All animals must be spayed or neutered before going home with their newly adoptive family.
Lost Pets
Call the shelter to register a “lost report” with information on your pet and phone numbers where you can be reached if your animal is found. Frequently visit the Aurora Animal Shelter in person. Post well-placed “Missing” posters at main entry ways to your neighborhood. Placing an unlaundered piece of clothing outside may help your animal detect your scent and find its way home.

Found Pets
If you find a stray animal, local newspapers run a free "found" advertisement in the classified section for three days, but it's best to bring the animal to the Aurora Animal Shelter. Owners routinely search animal shelters for their missing pets.
After-hours kennels are located on the west side of the shelter next to the garage and kennel doors are propped open at closing time. The doors lock automatically upon closing to prevent animals from inadvertently being placed together. Please provide us with information on when and where the animal was found by completing one of the forms from boxes hanging on the wall next to the kennels.
If you prefer to keep the animal at your personal residence, call the shelter to register a “found report.” The Animal Care Division’s computerized database will indicate if someone has placed a corresponding “lost report” so the animal can be reunited with its owners.

Pet Licenses Online
You can quickly and easily purchase a license for your pet and renew it online each year. Intact Permits may also be purchased and renewed online.
Before you begin the process, you should have at-hand the copy of the rabies certificate from your veterinarian for rabies tag information, vaccine expiration date, and information regarding your pet’s doctor.
