1960’s Suburban Empire
The Aurora History Museum, in partnership with the hosts of Radio 1190’s Under the Mattress show, plan to launch a Sixties Rock Primer Podcast in conjunction with the museum’s exhibit 1960s Suburban Empire on display through Feb. 11.
This one-of-a-kind audio tour featuring Conor and Ed, the voices of KVCU’s Sunday ‘50s and ‘60s show, brings the story of 1960s rock to life with clips of the songs that changed the world. Their tour of artists influential or obscure resurrects the emotion, optimism and heart of a decade through tunes from Dick Dale and the Beatles to the Kinks and the Velvet Underground.

Multicast has produced a score for On the Backs of Soldiers which draws inspiration from the exhibit. The electronica themes are meant to be both background and content, as subjects of war are explored. In one song, the sounds of artillery are faint in the distance. Another investigates the emotions of writing the last letter home. Multicast has been on the edge of experimental electronica music for ten years. This new set of songs pushes the genre into a new context, as the soundtrack for a historical display. View Details.
