Let’s think together.

The Power of One program is back for its fourth year in 2009

Join us for a year-long program designed to unite and inspire the community through a series of cultural experiences related to medicine.

Exchange ideas. Explore emotions. Create conversation. Connect with your community.

Call 303-739-6617 or e-mail jpatters@auroragov.org for more information.

This year’s Power of One programs coincide with the arrival of the national traveling exhibit, “Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America’s Women Physicians,” which the library at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center will host from April 8 to May 22.

The exhibit was developed by the Exhibition Program of the History of Medicine Division of the National Library of Medicine in collaboration with the American Library Association Public Programs Office, and has been made possible by the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health Office of Research on Women’s Health. The American Medical Women’s Association provided additional support. Call 303-742-2142 or visit the library’s Web site for information on the exhibit.

Part I: The Power of One Book
Pick one or all to read with the community: adult fiction, adult non-fiction, youth and a children’s selection.

Part II: The Power of One Film
Nothing unites strangers like a dark theater, a big screen and another world brought to life through strips of cellulose.

Part III: The Power of One Perspective
Think you’ve heard it all? Think again. Discover a new way of looking at things. Or find an ally at the podium.

The Power of One is presented by the City of Aurora Library, Recreation & Cultural Services and sponsored by the Friends of the Aurora Public Library, in partnership with Barnes & Noble and the Colorado Film School at Lowry.
