Early Warning Systems are tools that alert you to impending danger so you can take appropriate protective action and/or provide you with updates and further information.
OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS
The city of Aurora has an ALL-HAZARD siren system consisting of 39 outdoor warning sirens. The siren system is activated for any type of hazard that could seriously affect the population of Aurora. In the event the sirens are activated, citizens will hear a three minute wailing tone and will need to seek shelter. If you are indoors, do not go outdoors to see the weather when the sirens sound. You should tune into radio or television and listen for official announcements or information concerning the emergency. At the end of the threat, the sirens will sound with a 30 second whoop tone to signify the All-Clear. The city of Aurora tests the sirens twice per year in spring and fall. Information on when these tests will occur can be found in the Sentinel, in your water bill, or in the News for Neighbors flyer.
