If you are between the ages of 14 – 20 and are looking forward to a career in the fire service, the Aurora Fire Explorers Post 120 is looking for motivated individuals who want to be part of an elite team to learn the basics of firefighting.

About Aurora Fire Exploring:
- Exploring is part of the Learning for Life career education program for young men and women.
- Exploring is a worksite based program that gives youth an opportunity to visit community organizations and explore the dynamics of various careers. Explorers learn different firefighter job functions at various fire stations around the city.
- The purpose of the program is to provide young adults with an exploring program designed to build character, teach responsibilities, and develop personal fitness.
- Bi-monthly activities center on six experience areas: career, leadership, service, social interaction, fitness and the outdoors.
Meetings:
- Twice a month on Thursday evenings at different fire stations around the city.
- 6 – 9 pm
- A large scale mock disaster will be conducted once a year with other Explorer agencies.

Requirements:
- Weekend activities throughout the year
- A 100 percent attendance rate
- 50 hours of community service
- A scholastic check to make sure at least a 2.0 GPA is maintained
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Bi-monthly tests scoring an 90 percent or better

What Post 120 will provide:
- A full set of structural firefighting gear
- One Aurora Fire Explorers t-shirt
- One pair of Aurora Fire Explorers shorts
- One class B uniform shirt
- A textbook
What you will need:
- An annual fee of $50 (this will cover insurance and uniform costs). Post 120 will cover the $50 fee every year after if the member maintains active within the Post.
- A three-ring binder with dividers
- One pair of navy blue pants (no Dickies allowed)
- One pair of black boots or shoes
- One pair of black socks
- One black belt
- All waivers signed and returned to Post Advisor
